Korean Fortune Analysis in RPG Style

What is K-SAJU?

K-SAJU is a web service that reimagines traditional Korean Saju (Four Pillars) and physiognomy analysis in a modern RPG game style. Enter your birth date to discover your character stats and fortune.

What is Saju (Four Pillars of Destiny)?

Saju is an East Asian fortune-telling system that has been passed down for thousands of years. 'Four Pillars' refers to the four time pillars of one's birth: year, month, day, and hour. 'Eight Characters' refers to the eight characters (heavenly stems and earthly branches) that compose these four pillars. By analyzing the combination of these eight characters, we can understand an individual's personality, aptitude, and fortune trends.

Development Background

K-SAJU was created to introduce traditional Korean culture to younger generations in a familiar way. We combined retro pixel art style with RPG game character stat concepts so that complex Saju theory can be enjoyed like a game.

History of Saju

The origins of Saju (Four Pillars of Destiny) can be traced back to ancient China during the Han Dynasty (206 BCE โ€“ 220 CE). During the Tang Dynasty (618โ€“907 CE), Li Xuzhong established a system using the Year, Month, and Day pillars. Later, Xu Ziping of the Song Dynasty added the Hour pillar, completing the modern Saju system. Saju was introduced to Korea during the Three Kingdoms period and flourished during the Joseon Dynasty, where it was even used for important royal decisions. Today, the tradition of consulting Saju for life's significant momentsโ€”such as marriage, moving homes, and starting businessesโ€”continues to be an important part of Korean culture.
