It is based on four pillars derived from your birth year, month, day, and hour. Each pillar consists of a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch, creating eight characters total โ hence the full name 'Saju Palja' (ๅๆฑๅ ซๅญ, Four Pillars Eight Characters).
These eight characters encode the Five Element energies โ Wood (ๆจ), Fire (็ซ), Earth (ๅ), Metal (้), and Water (ๆฐด) โ along with Yin-Yang (้ฐ้ฝ) forces.
